One problem with classic albums? Most works that ever reach classic album articles within the music press and personal collections were recorded, produced and released at least ten years ago. This can often lead to an outdated, thin sound which can affect the feel for the music and make instrumentation sometimes too understated. Although the original recording of 'Siamese Dream' has aged well, the remastered sound is fitting to the intricate composition (most notably the deep complex guitar lines).
From the opening track the album carries un-real dreams like sound, differing greatly from other ‘grunge’ albums of the era (think Nirvana). The mood of the album is captured beautifully in the opening track ‘Cherub Rock’; Loud clean drum’s, rolling bass, elaborate twisting guitars and Billy Corgan’s ghostly vocals. This is a fairly consistent setup throughout the album with few surprises, but then again: Why fix something when it’s not broken? This is a sound that is definitely not broken. In terms of the difference between the original and the remastered deluxe edition, the album sounds rejuvenated and more musically relevant. It is almost as if Modern musical technology has allowed the album to achieve the sound originally desired, for its time the original does sound great however this takes its sound to a new level.
